How can I be sure that the IHSJR isn't a predatory journal?

Most predatory journals charge high prices for submission and often don't even follow-through with their side of the deal. They might never publish your work or publish articles without any form of peer-review or editorial processing. They promise quick submission timelines that aren't realistic. They might even steal your research and publish it elsewhere. Worrying about predatory journals is a very valid concern and at the IHSJR, we believe so too.

We will never charge for your submission. Here at the IHSJR, we believe that research should always be free to researchers and the public. We make sure to do our part by passing your work through two levels of review: a peer-review and a professional-review and always publish your work (as long as it meets our guidelines). We also make sure to put effort into each of our reviews and be thorough at every stage of publication.

In fact, you can pull your research out of the submission process at any point. No questions asked.

Who is on the Peer-Editorial team at the IHSJR?

The peer-editorial team at the IHSJR collaborates to review every application that is sent in. We check for grammar, appropriate syntax, and do formatting. You can check out our team on our About page. The IHSJR is a new journal that began in June of 2021 so if the editorial board doesn't look complete, that's likely because we are still in the process of interviewing possible peer-editors.

In our interview process of choosing new peer-editors, we look at an applicant's skillsets and passions. Only if we feel that they will be able to positively contribute to the IHSJR's mission of providing every student an opportunity through research do we accept them.

When you receive feedback, you will also get to know who(m) reviewed your work. If you feel that they did not provide adequate feedback or have a complaint, you can let us know by emailing us or sending a message via our contact form. We will review your complaint and deal with it accordingly. You will also be updated after our decision has been made.

Why don't there seem to many articles published by the IHSJR?

The IHSJR began at the end of June, 2021. It usually takes a few months before a journal receives its first submission and it usually take even longer (1-2 years) before a steady stream of submissions arrive at a journal. Chances are, you are checking out the publications of the IHSJR before we have begun to have a steady stream of submissions.

While we still encourage you to apply, we understand if this makes you hesitant to submit your research. We encourage you to check back to the IHSJR in a few months.

Is publication through the Student Research Program the same as the official IHSJR?

No. Publications through the Student Research Program do not go through the same rigorous two-step peer and professional review that the official IHSJR offers. Both offer a chance to be featured on our website and social media platforms but the quantity and quality of publications through the official IHSJR may be different.
